Here is a word you may not have heard in awhile- Muzak. Muzak was sold to its only competitor today for $345 million. First off, when was the last time you heard Muzak, and who knew it was even possible to have a competitor to "elevator music". I have not heard Muzak in, I don't know how long. Second, how is that kind of company worth $345M when they are $200M in debt?

Death Comes To Us All
One famous, and one not-so-famous, persons died this weekend. Both of them took your money. One of them gave it to others, and one used the money for himself.
One was a politician. One was an inventor.
I am very sorry for both of their families.
One was a three-time member of Congress and Vice-Presidential candidate. One invented cyanocrylate.
The politician died after a long battle with cancer. The inventor died at home.
The politicians death has been on the news all weekend, and will be on the news for awhile yet to come. The inventors death announcement was heard by few, and will probably be forgotten Tuesday.
What is the point of this you ask? Why do we as a nation look to our political leaders like they are something special? Thousands if not millions of people vote for these people, so maybe they don't want to look dumb because they feel they have something invested with these people. Perhaps it is because they take our money and we think they know more than we do, because they have decided that is not our money. Is it television that elevates these people to some status that makes them better than us? Can their speeches motivate us to think they are smarter than us because everyone in the audience believes what they are saying, so it must be true?
Are famous people famous for some of the same reasons? I suppose so.
Why is it news when famous people die? I don't know them. I don't think I have ever met a famous person. I've met some rock musicians. I saw Ronald Reagan give a speech at the Belvedere when I was about 12.
When famous people die, we probably are more upset for purely selfish reasons. No more movies, songs, inventions, paintings, etcetera.
Politicians are no better or worse than us. They just have a bigger soapbox, and possibly ego, than the normal person.
Almost all of us have used cyanocrylate. I call it cyanocrylate sometimes because that is what we had to order from Servmart in the Navy. My wife used cyanocrylate on me this week. Harry Coover invented cyanocrylate. It is usually called super-glue now.

Welcome to The Contrary Realist.
This is my first blog post, and it will be awesome. I have opinions on just about everything, and they are all correct. If you disagree with my opinion, there will be a comment section. No profanity. If you attack me or anyone else, expect reprisals.
I am not afraid to say what I want on anything. Rick Monday is/is not my real name. I do reside in Louisville KY. I am a conservative/libertarian. I do not like politicians. I do not like bureaucrats. My musical tastes are the envy of all. If I tell you a band is good- take it to the bank.
Based on my personal beliefs, there should be approximately 1,000,000 plus followers by the end of the year. That is a very low estimate.
